ABOUT H3Sports

H3Sports was founded in June, 2023 as a 501c3 Non-Profit Organization with a holistic approach to people development through the use of sports. Since established, we’ve started free after school sports programs for underserved youth, launched a high school tennis program in their inaugural season, and lead teams of college and high school athletes on service trips to third world countries.  In Meet our Board of Directors:

 

 

kristie friese

Vice President

Kristie Frieze is a nonprofit operations leader known for driving strategic organizational development, efficient facility & event management, and sound fiscal oversight. Currently serving at Wycliffe BibleTranslators in Orlando as the Senior Director of Facilities, she oversees all campus facility operations and all guest-facing experiences. Previously, she served as the Executive Director for the Lewis & Clark Fort Mandan Foundation, managing all strategic and day-to-day operations for the historic interpretive center. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communication from the University of Minnesota and resides in Orlando, Florida, with her husband. She has two adult daughters. She loves Jesus, visiting museums, and reading books. 

 

sean mccurry

Vice President

Sean is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Pinnacle Private Ventures (PPV). Sean was the Founder and President of a boutique Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) before transitioning to Single Family Office work and the subsequent launch of PPV. He is involved with portfolio management and strategic oversight of key partnerships and operators. Sean is a 1989 graduate of John Brown University.

daryl smithgall

Vice President/ Secretary, Treasurer

Daryl is one of the founders and the Director for Footsteps Missions, which helps needy children around the world, and has had hundreds of teams and thousands of volunteers go to serve around the world. Daryl himself has been to 52+ countries around the world. Daryl is also a close friend of Sid and they have enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, golf, pickleball, and whatever new sports Sid finds. Daryl enjoys playing music while accompanying on piano or keyboard, traveling, and board games. He is a Seahawk and Mariners fan from his time living in Washington state.

 

MIKE LUZINSKI

Vice President

Pastor Mike Luzinski serves Spring of Life United Methodist Church and is passionate about creating spaces where people of all ages can grow deep in their relationship with Jesus. He desires to support innovative ministry and is grateful for the opportunity to support the ministry of H3-Sports.

Bob Azzarito

president

Bob Azzarito lives in Carmichael, CA, and met Sid in 1987 at John Brown University. Bob arrived that year as the new University Chaplain, while Sid was a student, and they became lifelong friends. Bob recently retired from full-time ministry but continues to work part-time as a marriage and family therapist. He loves all sports and believes wholeheartedly in the work of H3 Sports. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Sue, and together they have 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren.

Jeff Smith is married to Joan and has 5 children: Esther, David, Jonathan, Daniel, and Abigail Jeff has been a youth pastor, children’s pastor, Lead Pastor, Aquatics Director, and owner of Kings Swim Academy. He has coached Triathletes, US swimming, and masters swimming over
the years. Currently, he owns Packer Lake Lodge and resides in Kentucky.

Sid newcomb

Coach Sid is a career coach and pastor. His primary vocation has been as a tennis coach.
From 2016 – 2022, he was the National Director of Coaching for U.S. Tennis, where the primary
focus was on developing and certifying tennis coaches of all experience levels throughout the country.
As a Pastor, Sid is a part of mentoring coaches holistically with a focus on the Mental, Physical,
and Spiritual growth.
Starting the H3-Sports non-profit organization has been a lifelong dream that stems from past
volunteer experiences in inner-city sports programs and overseas sports mission trips.
Among many coaching accolades, Sid earned the ‘Master Professional’ certification in 2018, the
National Tennis Professional of the year in 2019 (by Racquet Sports Magazine), and was
inducted into the NorCal Coaches Hall of Fame in 2022.
